‘Free To Be Me’ Exhibition, London College of Communication Typo Cafe Windows
South Asian Heritage Month runs from 18th July to 17th August, and was set up in 2019 to recognise and spotlight the achievements, lived experiences, and people of South Asian communities in the UK.
South Asia consists of 8 countries: Afghanistan, Bangladesh, Bhutan, India, Maldives, Nepal, Pakistan and Sri Lanka. There’s also South Asian diaspora (communities from South Asian countries who live outside of South Asia) across the world, from the UK to the Caribbean and beyond.
2024’s theme is ‘Free to be Me’. It’s about embracing who we are, sharing our similarities, and honouring our differences. ‘Free to be Me’ encourages us to celebrate our unique identities as students of South Asian heritage at UAL, and be proud of who we are.
