A digital print inspired by vintage Indian post stamps, depicting a girl who has a style influenced by both Indian and western fashion statements. As a South Asian living in London, a mix of cultures is something that is very common and personal to many.
Artist Statement:
This work is a depiction of how the upcoming generation of youth in India is embracing their culture in a new way, by mixing it with western clothing. I looked at vintage matchboxes, stamps, postcards, to gain inspiration from. The background is that of a 'Queen's card' and the typography in Hindi translates to "Queen" or "Rani".
