Sophia Nasif is a British Maldivian multimedia storyteller, currently studying at London College of Communication. She moved to the UK in 2005, a month before her 12th birthday, after spending most of her life in her father's country of the Maldives. Moving to England was a huge culture shock, and a very different world to what she was used to. However, Sophia has always felt like she is a Maldivian through and through, no matter how many years she spends in the UK, and has always felt deeply connected to her South Asian roots.

A strong advocate for equity, diversity and inclusion, Sophia introduced South Asian Heritage Month to UAL and Arts SU during her two year term as the London College of Communication Officer, after feeling that she and other South Asian students were not truly represented at the university despite making up a large percentage of the student body. WIth support from Arts SU and UAL staff, she hopes that her work of the past two years on this liberation month will leave a lasting legacy for years to come.

This is the third South Asian Heritage Month exhibtion that she has curated at UAL.
