Overview
Typography doesn’t have to be rigid—it can be an experiment, a playground, a space for unexpected discoveries. This workshop invites designers, artists, and type enthusiasts to break free from conventional rules and explore type design through logic, collaboration, and play.
Using the "How to Not Design a Typeface" toolkit, we’ll establish simple, intuitive constraints to guide creative exploration—without getting stuck on technicalities like x-heights and baselines. Instead, we’ll focus on how emergent forms can arise through playful experimentation.
A special segment will dive into Devanagari type design, exploring how its rich history and structure can be reimagined through unconventional methods. Whether you're a designer looking to challenge creative regulations or just want to have fun pushing typographic boundaries, this workshop is for you.
Let’s break, build, and reimagine letterforms together
This workshop will be facilitated by Varada Rege, and you can read more about the designer profile here: Varada Rege
