Overview
Come paint and glaze some Bisqueware! This ticket is to come to the session, you can then purchase the bisque that you want to paint. I'd advise you We will have other bisque options available next week :D
YOU MUST BE AVAILABLE to collect your work on the 10th of November (or ask someone to collect for you)!
At this session you will paint on ‘bisque’ and these will become real ceramic pieces! Much like what you’d find at a pottery painting cafe :O It is a fun, relaxing social session! Feel free to bring snacks, drinks and tea bags (Should there not be enough at the community centre already)!
What is bisque?
Bisque refers to ware that has been fired once and has no chemically bonded water left in the clay. Bisque is a true ceramic material, although the clay body has not yet reached maturity. This stage is also sometimes called biscuit or bisque. Essentially, clay (or greenware - which is clay that has been shaped into a vessel or pot, but hasn’t been fired yet) undergoes two firings. The term ‘firing’ refers to the process of putting something into a kiln - a big oven that reaches very high temperatures. The first time it becomes Bisque-ware, the second time it becomes a piece of ceramic!
So we have bought ‘bisque’ in bulk, already shaped, ‘bisque’ fired pieces - for you to paint and glaze! They will then be fired for the second time (’glaze fired’) and returned to you!
