Welcome (or welcome back) to UAL, from the Arts SU Advice team! We hope you’ve been enjoying the Welcome period so far.
We know that this time can be full of new things, new homes, people and of course, learning. While navigating this, it can be nice to learn from peers and find new things to enjoy, and who better to give you recommendations of books, podcasts, TV shows, galleries and your favourite lunch spots in London, than your fellow students?
As part of Welcome in 2024, the Students' Union are hosting a series of mixers for students at UAL, including a Postgraduate Mixer, Pre-degree Mixer, Students of Colour mixer, and much more! Find the details of all our upcoming welcome events here. We hope these will be great chances for you to make friends with other students, and, to keep the fun vibes going, we’re creating media libraries for our student groups. In these libraries, students who attend the mixers, or who can’t make it, can share what they’ve been enjoying recently, so you can get some new recommendations.
So, got something to share? Submit your recommendations here. The page will be open for contributions for the month of October and continue to be available for review for the rest of the academic year.
And don’t forget that the SU is here to support you during your time studying at UAL. Should you need any advice on navigating internal UAL processes such as complaints, academic appeals or housing issues, you can get in touch with our Advice Service here.
And if you’re looking to make new friends at UAL then sign up to our Buddy Up initiative here! We run a 1-2-1 friend matching service as well as groups for different student demographics to chat, network and share with each other.
Note:
We will monitor these pages occasionally and remove any hate speech. These recommendations, content, and content creators are not endorsed by, or associated with the SU and your choice to engage with them is at your own discretion. Please note that these pages are not consistently monitored and if you witness any hate speech please use Tell Someone. This is UAL's internal reporting tool for racism, bullying, harassment and sexual violence to promote a safe and inclusive environment. You can make a report by completing this form, and an advisor will be in contact to let you know about the support available, discuss formal and informal ways of resolving an issue, and signpost you to further information.
