Our Team

Our staff team works to support and advocate for your academic interests and welfare, while also organising events and activities to enhance your experience.

Sabbatical Officers

The Sabbatical Officers have been elected to represent Arts Student Union members (UAL students). They offer representation and support across four main categories: activities, campaigns, education, and welfare. In the 2022 Leadership Elections, these roles changed to four College Officers (CCW, CSM, LCC, and LCF), the Student Communities Officer, and the Union Affairs Officer.

Education Quality Team

Our team empowers the student voice through Academic Representation, Democracy and Campaigns. We work with our Sabbatical Officers on delivering SU-wide campaign priorities that address the challenges facing UAL students. We manage a 1000 strong course rep system across the colleges and ensure every student at UAL can run/vote in our democratic decisions (i.e student elections). Further to this we ensure students are effectively represented at all levels in UAL (by working in partnership with academic staff) providing the necessary tools to shape their student experience and the world around them.

Communities Development Team

The Community team supports and facilitates student-led activities and events through our Societies, Sports and Arts Active programme. We aim to provide opportunities for all UAL students to try different activities, meet new people and, above all to help to create the best student experience possible. We encourage all students and student groups to be diverse and inclusive and supportive of each other.

The Community team is continually developing and improving our skills and training offer for student leaders. We want to ensure that our offer stays relevant and if students can’t find what they want in our current programmes, or have a great idea for a new activity, we can help them to create it.

Communications and Marketing Team

The Communications & Marketing Team provides a support service to all Arts SU teams. They oversee projects across the union including creating brochures for commercial services, digital assets for events, and physical signage for office spaces.

The team also creates all content on the Arts SU social media channels as well as the website. As the SU works closely with UAL, the Communications & Marketing team work together with UAL to ensure that a clear message of the SU reaches students. Lastly, the team engages with external clients who also want their message to reach UAL students and this is done through marketing our spaces, both digital and physical.
